Hi there! My name is Laur (short for Lauryn) and I’m the face behind the camera, at Helen Grace Photography, though I have a wonderful ‘tribe’ of helpers too!

I fell in love with photography in the “olden days” of film cameras, with a father who would sit and wait for half-an-hour or more, just to get the “perfect” light for a single shot. There was no Photoshop to enhance your finished images or improve your exposure. I still remember my first camera: a second-hand Pentax with only 2 Sigma lenses, but that camera was my pride and joy as a 15-year-old.

I may not spend hours tucked away in a dark room developing my own film, but not much else has changed. I love being a quiet onlooker into other people’s lives and sharing their precious moments with them. I love capturing the beauty around us and empowering others to see it too: in the smallest little detail of a flower petal, through to the look of pure love shared between a mother and her baby. I love how a single photo can enable us to feel again ‘that special feeling’ we felt when the memory was captured. More than anything, though, I love helping people! I love using my skills to help others tell their stories, or promote their business, or record their memories for posterity.
